ALEX DRAYSON
"While SPU has been a fantastic experience for my son physically, more importantly, it has prepared him better mentally to handle success and failure. I am grateful to Alex and his staff for all they have done to help prepare my son for the real world and it's challenges. Thank you SPU." |
A graduate of Elon University, Drayson holds his degree in the Psychology of Coaching and Leadership, a major he designed and created. He has coached football at the Division I, Division III, and high school levels, in addition to his work as an athletic performance coach and private quarterback coach. Most recently, he served as the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterback Coach for Western Connecticut State University, where he led the Western offense to the top of the conference and mentored one of his quarterbacks to a Conference Player of the Year award. A former Division I athlete and All-Founders League high school athlete, Drayson has seen high level sports from the perspective of both an athlete and coach and is uniquely educated to help SportPerformanceU's athletes reach their goals.
Drayson is a certified Functional Movement Specialist (FMS), a Gold Level certified coach through the National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA), a certified American Sport Education Program coach (ASEP), and a certified National Federation of State High Schools coach (NFHS). In the past, he created certifications for other sport organizations, as well as taught educational courses in coaching and leadership theory and has given numerous lectures on topics related to coaching and athletic performance. He is the co-creator of the SPU system of analysis.
Before founding SportPerformanceU and the Drayson Quarterback Academy, Drayson has worked in sports in a variety of capacities. He ran a character and athletic development program in Greensboro, North Carolina, from which many athletes have gone on to have distinguished careers both on and off the field. He organized and executed a trip to England for youth athletes to engage in international competition, continuing to look for ways to grow sports and create positive experiences for young athletes. A strong believer in using sport as a medium for developing character and life values, Drayson strives to ensure that SportPerformanceU leaves a positive impact on the community.
